The inspiration behind Geo-electrified lies in the universal appeal of aesthetics and beauty. The designers, CM Jao and Ken Cheung, drew parallels between the rules of beauty in film and geometry. They used fundamental geometric elements like points, lines, and planes to create two types of houses: Standard House and IMAX House. The interiors of both houses boast neat lines and shapes, made up by dots, from one point to another. The colour contrasts and mirrored lines and shapes on both sides of the wall further enhance the geometric appeal.
The uniqueness of Geo-electrified lies in its application of geometric shapes. The designers used two main materials in the lavatories: wood grain plastic laminated and black mirror. The contrast between these materials allowed them to draw the lines and shapes they desired. Carefully hidden lights in the ceiling subtly highlight the geometric shapes on the floor and walls.
The realization of Geo-electrified involved creating new rules within the fundamental circumstances of geometry. The designers hoped to think out of the box and imagine beyond limitations. This imagination is evident in the lobby, where irregular shapes are used for the walls, columns, ceiling, and ticketing counter. The white and bronze colours travel through the whole lobby to form sharp lines, creating a new set of rules.
Geometry and mathematics played a significant role in the design of Geo-electrified. The designers numerically calculated shapes and figures to create a symmetrical space. This concept is best displayed in the corridor, which is painted in bronze colour and decorated with metal mesh panels and wood grain plastic laminated. The ceiling and walls are used to edge out geometric shapes, creating a balanced aesthetic perfect for a long corridor.
The project, which started in January 2017 in ZhangMutou, China and finished in August 2017, faced the challenge of creating unique, comfortable, and practical spaces within the rules of geometry. However, the designers overcame this challenge by creating their own rules. The result is a unique cinema that merges geometry and aesthetics to create a unique visual experience.
In conclusion, Geo-electrified is a testament to the innovative design capabilities of CM Jao and Ken Cheung. It is a cinema that not only provides entertainment but also a unique visual experience. The design, which won the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018, is a testament to the designers' prodigy and wisdom. It is a venerated product that advances art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with its desirable characteristics.
